Sony launched the Xperia 1 VI in May 2024, featuring a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and a triple camera setup. Sony is now gearing up to debut the successor of its Xperia 1 VI and the Sony Xperia 1 VII. This news becomes even more prominent after a publication spotted a new Sony handset on Taiwan’s NCC website, which lists the design and color options of the purported Sony Xperia 1 VII. The handset is said to have a model number XQ-FSxx, and the render shows three cameras on the rear panel, along with a headphone jack.
Sumaho Digest, a Japanese website, shared live images of the rumored Sony Xperia 1 VII, sourced from the Taiwanese certification site NCC, highlighting that the smartphone will be available in Black, navy green, and purple color options. Sony Xperia 1 VI was launched in three color options: Black, Platinum Silver, and Khaki Green.
The render image highlights the minimal design changes compared to the previous iteration of the Xperia phone. It also confirms that the brand will continue to offer a triple rear camera setup on the new phone, with the sensors positioned vertically on the rear panel. A headphone jack can also be spotted in the shared image. Based on the image, the main camera sensor is expected to have an Exmor-T sensor.
The handset is 165 mm tall and 74 mm wide, making it slightly longer than the existing Sony Xperia 1 VI, which measures 162 mm tall and 74 mm wide. Earlier this month, a leaked image surfaced on the internet claiming that the Sony Xperia 1 VII will feature a 6.5-inch screen, similar to the Xperia 1 VI, but with large bezels on both sides. The Xperia 1 VII is expected to be the first smartphone to have a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
Talking about the Xperia 1 VI, Sony launched this phone in May 2024 at a starting price of EUR 1,299 (approx Rs 1,17,400) for a 12GB + 256GB variant. It features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and a triple camera setup, comprising a 48-megapixel primary Sony Exmor T sensor, a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 12-megapixel zoom camera. The smartphone has a 12-megapixel front camera for video calls and selfies. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery and 30W fast charging support.
