Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 smartphones are expected to debut in July during the brand’s second Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025. Samsung hasn’t confirmed the existence, but a report from Korea strongly indicated that these foldable smartphones are progressing according to their specified timeline. Mass production for these two Samsung foldable phones is expected to start in May this year. The Korean smartphone brand is also planning to unveil its first tri-fold phone by the end of this year.
According to The Bell, Samsung Display has already started producing panels for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung Electronics is anticipated to start production of these phones in May. The front-end manufacturing process for foldable OLEDs is similar to that of normal mobile OLEDs. However, the back-end process requires some distinct processes.
Samsung Display reportedly plans to complete front-end work at its Asan, South Korea, facility, while the back-end work is at its Bac Ninh, Vietnam, facility. Once these panels are produced, they will be delivered to Samsung Electronics' local factory.
The seventh-generation foldable smartphone from Samsung is expected to be released in the second half of this year. An industry report claims that the company will announce a tri-fold and budget-friendly foldable phone around Q4 2025. The purported Galaxy Z Flip FE and tri-fold were previously rumored to be launched with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in July this year.
Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy SoC, paired with 12GB of RAM. At the same time, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is rumored to feature an Exynos 2500 chipset. Both foldable phones will run on Android 16-based One UI 8 and be equipped with a 4,400mAh battery pack in the Z Fold 7 and a 4,300mAh battery in the Z Flip 7.
