The Galaxy S23 series will consist of three models: the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra, according to leaks and rumours.
Here is a quick summary of everything we currently know about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S23 flagship smartphone series.
The most compact of the bunch, the Samsung Galaxy S23, will have a 6.1-inch display, while the Galaxy S23 Plus will have a slightly larger 6.6-inch screen. An AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate will be present in both models. Additionally, according to leaks, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus will have a peak brightness rating of 1750 nits, which is probably only available in the HDR mode.
Like its predecessors, the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus will maintain a premium design. The phones will have slightly flattened metal frames with a glass sandwich design, according to the leaks. Additionally, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus are rumoured to come in the colours phantom black, cotton flower, mystic lilac and botanic green.
The primary camera layout on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus will have three distinct circular camera cutouts, similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra. A dedicated wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and telephoto lens will be included in each phone's triple camera setup. Another feature that is anticipated for these smartphones is an updated selfie camera.
The Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which will have at least 8GB of RAM and options for 128 and 256GB of storage. Both phones will forego a microSD card slot in favour of dual nano SIM card slots that can support a 5G network. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus will come pre-installed with Android 13 OS and a unique OneUI 5.1 skin.
The S23 is expected to be priced around Rs 70000 while the larger S23 plus is expected to be launched at a price of Rs 80000.
These phones will compete with the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus respectively.
With a design influenced by the note, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will once more resemble the Galaxy S22 Ultra quite closely. This will be on par with the iPhone 14 Pro lineup thanks to its sizeable 6.8-inch 2K curved AMOLED screen, 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of over 2000 nits. Once more, the phone will be built with high-quality materials, including a metal frame and a glass sandwich finish.
Similar to the S22 Ultra, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will also feature a built-in S-Pen. The S23 Ultra's camera setup will resemble that of the S22 Ultra. The S23 Ultra will have a 200MP camera, a first for a Samsung smartphone, in place of a 108 MP primary camera. In addition, the phone will likely have better low-light photography and a dedicated periscope zoom lens, just like the S22 Ultra.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra will be offered in the same colour options as the S23 and S23 Plus, including botanic green, cotton flower, mystic lilac, and phantom black. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with at least 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage will power the phone's hardware. The smartphone is also anticipated to come with 512GB and 1TB of storage.
The Samsung S23 Ultra will compete with the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max and will be priced accordingly. It is expected that the Samsung flagship will be priced around Rs 130000. The S23 Ultra is up for pre-reservation on the Samsung India website for Rs 2000.
