Apparently, after the update, if your Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 4 Classic was turned off or the battery was drained completely, the watch could not be turned on again. Samsung was quick to acknowledge the issue and came up with a software update to fix the issue for the Galaxy Watch 4 series.
While it may seem to be good news, it was not the case for all the users. The new software update ending with GVI4 is being rolled out in many regions including the US and Europe. The new update is available for Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series. In the official catalogue, the update states it consists of November 2022 security patch and improves the overall stability and reliability of the device. The key information in the catalogue reads “A power operation-related stabilization code has been applied,” which is the fix related to the bricking issue caused by the previous update.
While the update should have fixed the bricking issue for users, several reports on Reddit from owners of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 indicate that it is not the case. Many users have been reporting, after the installation of the update GVI4, their smartwatches would be stuck in the boot loop for several minutes before booting in the OS.
This is not the case for everyone though. Considering the Reddit reports, the issue seems to be plaguing about half of the users. Some users are reporting the issue is more prone in the watches manufactured around August 2021 than the ones manufactured recently.
