For the new chips, MediaTek is using the N4P node instead of the 3nm that was expected to be in this generation. We can see smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9200 by the end of 2022. With the MediaTek chips, users will have many choices to pick from when looking in the high end smartphone market. Other than the processing nodes, MediaTek is using the latest ARM cores and other latest technologies. Here are some features you might see in the upcoming phones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200.
The Dimensity 9200 is primarily based on the second Gen TSMC N4P node and is using ARM's new Cortex-X3 performance cores which can be clocked at up to 3.05 GHz. In addition to the X3 core, Dimensity 9200 also has 3x Cortex A715 cores, which can be clocked at 2.8 GHz and 4x Cortex A510 efficiency cores clocked at 1.8 GHz.
The new components do not end there, the Dimensity 9200 also uses the new ARM Immortalis G715 GPU. the new GPU has hardware based ray tracing capabilities. It also comes with support for Variable Refresh Rates and improved Machine Learning.
MediaTek Dimensity 9200 can support up to two 5K displays at 60 Hz or WQHD displays at 144 Hz or FHD displays at 240 Hz refresh rates. In addition to that, the Dimensity 9200 is also the first smartphone chip to support WiFi 7 standards. Both 5mm and sub 6 GHz 5G connectivity is supported with Bluetooth 5.3 also on board.
The Dimensity 9200 will compete with the soon to be released Qualcomm snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which is also expected to use N4P nodes and the ongoing Apple A16 Bionic which uses N4 nodes.
While there are not many smartphones that are known to come with the new SoC, one device that is expected to come soon is the Vivo X90 which will use the Dimensity 9200.
