The "Best Smartphone" award went to Apple's iPhone 14 Pro, with contenders including the Google Pixel 7 Pro, Nothing Phone (1), Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, and Galaxy Z Fold4.
Apple also took home the "Disruptive Device Innovation" award with its Emergency SOS via Satellite feature. During the iPhone 14 launch event, Apple demonstrated that satellites could be used for emergency communication without the need for additional hardware.
Shortly after, T-Mobile announced its partnership with SpaceX to address dead zones in the US, while MediaTek stated that its upcoming chipsets would support satellite data connections. Other devices considered for the award included Google's Tensor 2 chip, Qualcomm Snapdragon, and Sony's IMX989 Camera Sensor.
In the category of Satellite communication, the "Best in Show" award was given to Motorola's Defy Satellite Link by Bullit. The device, which is powered by MediaTek silicon, can send SMS messages anywhere with a clear view of the sky by using Bluetooth to connect to a smartphone. Other contenders included the Honor Magic Vs, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and Oppo Find N2 Flip. The award was judged by a select group of judges physically at the show and presented at the winning organization's stand separately from the main GLOMO award ceremony.
